What Will You Celebrate?

What Will You Celebrate?

Adapted by Andy Halstead taken out of the book 3 Minutes Devotions for Men

This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. PSALM 118:24

If you could personally create any holiday, what would you celebrate? Do you want to rejoice in your children’s good grades, read and apply a new Bible verse, overcome a bad habit, try a new food or have a good conversation with a loved one? This would be a good day; which would you choose?

You could use the day to celebrate something good that has happened to someone else you know. Maybe you could let your kids or grandchildren decide what to celebrate. Choose both meaningful and goofy reasons to celebrate.

Maybe it would just be enough to revel in this day the same way you can every other day. God made it and that’s the best reason to cheer.

It might even be meaningful to wait until the day is over and name this day for the specific ways you saw God work in your family. There’s no wrong way to do it as long as you’re full of gratitude and praise for what He has done!

God, thank you for this day. May I enjoy it and find reasons to praise you when it ends. Help me to worship you, to be productive, and be grateful. Amen.
