Daily Encouragement from God’s Word
Do you know the central lesson from COVID-19? We’re NOT in control.
We don’t know what tomorrow will bring. We make plans only to watch the picture change over night, and wake up once again in uncertainty. I don’t often realize how much confidence I put into my routine until it’s been disrupted.
I’m the first to admit that faith and life are pretty easy when I’m comfortable. Take away comfortable and substitute unpredictable and I realize that everything around me is fragile and temporary. We need to hear what Jesus says: I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world [John 16:33].
Our confidence during COVID-19 or any other time is not our routines and illusion of control, but in the resurrected Jesus who has overcome everything the world can throw at us.
Do you know why I thank God for all that’s happening around us? Because the circumstances have created an urgency within us to seek God and spend time with him. I’m praying that our entire Immanuel family feels this same urgency and acts on it. Trials, pressures and pandemics are where faith is strengthened and refined. He strips away all our confidence in everything else but Him.
With love and prayers...Pastor Greg and your Immanuel Staff
